Although at first the Slam Man looks like an advanced punch bag, it really is much more than that. Not only does it help you improve your self defence skills, it is really effective at helping you achive your fitness goals, whether that is fat loss, muscular endurance, toning and muscular strength.
The Slam Man is shaped like a human head and torso which provides you with a much better workout as opposed to a normal punch bag. It doesn't matter whether you're tall or short either, because the Slam Man can be adjusted from 5 feet to over 6 feet. Also, the exterior of the Slam Man is made from strong polyethylene while maintainin soft foam on the target area. This makes the Slam Man not only able to withstand your most powerful haymakers, but it also won't break your hand when you hit it. The quality build is made to last for a lifetime.
The thing that really differentiates the Slam Man from other human shaped punchbags however is the fact that it has lights which you hit when they light up. This provides many combinations for you to practice since there are many stored programmes including the ability for you to make up your own. I found this to be very good for meeting my fitness goals. Harder programmes will make the lights move faster or require more punching power to put out, so you can improve both your punching speed and power this way.
One of the best things about the Slam Man is that it uses the science of boxing, which is rated by sports therapists as one of the best full-body workouts and condenses it into a great way to exercises for the average person. You can get the full physical advantages of boxing without the danger of getting hit.
The Slam Man gives you the perfect balance between aerobic and anaerobic exercises. With the programmed workouts the Slam Man provides you with, you will lose a large amount of fat due to the amount of calories burned, and also due to a raised metabolism from building more muscle. A diet plan is also included which is optimised for boxers. Additionally, your fitness and cardio will improve vastly and you will see alot of benefits to both your physical and mental health.
I never found the programmes to be repetitive or boring since the sheer variety of workouts means I don't do the same thing week after week. Real boxing moves can be practised such as hooks, japs and crosses and also evasive moves like sidestepping your opponent. You don't need to dedicate alot of time to using the Slam Man, even just one hour a week will give you great benefits, although you will obviously burn more calories if you work out more.
I would say that the Slam Man is a great investment, the only gripe I had was having to fill it with sand at the start but apart from that, I give it 5 stars!
